State Championships 2012, 2013 and 2014“The only constant in business is change” At the QVGU Management meeting held at the Oxley Golf Club on the 10th August 2010 the decline in the attendance at the recent State Championships was debated. A number of areas were discussed in particular the spread of popular open events held during the year. It was agreed that the number of those events held in July, August and September may be affecting attendance at the September State Championships. As a consequence the decision was made that in 2012, 2013 and 2014 the championship format be reversed with the State Championship being held in March and the Foursome Championship in September; that situation to be reviewed in August 2013. As a result of the recent cancellation of March championships due to rain it was further agreed at the 17th May Management Meeting that during the above trial period the State Championships be conducted in May instead of March. The State Championships in 2012 will be held at the Woodford Golf Club on the 14th and 15th May and the Foursome Championships in 2012 will also be held at Woodford on the 3rd and 4th September. State Championships 2012
The state championships for 2012 are to be held at the Woodford Golf Club on the 14th and 15th May. The event will be over 36 holes of stroke in three grades for men and three grades for ladies. A single stableford event will also be run on both days for visiting/accompanying ladies who are not veterans.
The following is a list of accommodation suggestions around Woodford. As an alternative Bribie Island and the Sunshine Coast are about 30 to 45 minutes away. To be conducted from 11th to 16th November 2012, the event will be played on four wonderful golf courses, Rosebud Country Club, The Dunes, the Legends Course at Moonah Links, and the Ocean Course at The National Golf Club, the latter three are all rated well inside Australia’s Top 50 and these will be the venues for the 54 hole Stroke Championship as well as the Ladies 54 hole Stableford event.

State Foursome Championships 2011Once again the rain came and and spoilt our Championships. Play fortunately was possible after a two hour delay on the Monday but closed the course on the Tuesday. The event was decided over 18 holes which was unfortunate. Thanks to the 80 odd players who returned for the luncheon and presentations.
