State Championships Maroochy River 2017

Results

The Maroochy River Veterans reported as follows:

Under clear blue skies Maroochy River hosted the State Championships on May 15 and 16. The Graham Marsh designed course while only 2 years old offers a unique set of challenges via its undulations, positioning of holes for the prevailing winds which require precision approach shots. It is a great test of golf in the shadow of Mt Coolum and Mt Ninderry.

The 238 participants came from approximately 60 Golf Clubs around the State ranging from Mareeba to the Gold Coast and west to Monto. Such was the popularity of the event and venue, there were 7 on the “Wait List”.
215 Males and 23 ladies played. The Ladies played in a single division. Extra prizes were given to B Grade men who had a similar number of participants as the A and C Grade combined.

The Nomination process had a few hiccups but these were overcome successfully. The biggest problem was the tardiness of the postal system which saw Nominations from Brisbane and Bundaberg taking over two weeks to arrive.

The Maroochy River Veterans also sent the following to all participants;

Folks

Now the dust has settled on the 2017 Veterans State Championships I would like to say “Thank You” for coming and playing at our new Golf Course.

We had a field of 238 players from 58 Golf Clubs. It was great to see the event played in such a “Friendly” atmosphere.

Sorry about the Carts on Paths on Monday but that was out of our control

If you wish to comment on any aspect of the event don’t be afraid to reply to this email. We value all suggestions. Any that pertain to the format of the Championships will be passed on to the Queensland body.

Maroochy River hosts a Carnival in October for Men and Women. It is an all Stableford event and you will receive a Nomination form in July. We would enjoy your company if you can fit us in.
